Introduction: One of the controversial, critical, and urban phenomena is the worn-out texture and its challenges and problems, as well as the concerns of the city management in this field. Therefore, the present study with a descriptive-analytical approach seeks to investigate the factors affecting public participation in order to organize worn-out urban textures in three regions of Ardabil.
Method: In the current study, field study and survey questionnaires were used to collect the data. The sample size was estimated to be 384 people using Cochran's formula, which was upgraded to 400 people to cover any possible errors. Simple random sampling method was utilized. To analyze the data, Pearson correlation coefficient, analysis of variance, t-test, and regression model by means of SPSS statistical software and GIS software were used to draw the map.
Findings: Among the studied variables, the most important impact on citizens' participation in organizing worn-out textures is related to trusting city managers and then the socio-economic status.
Discussion: Trusting city managers, increasing the level of education and awareness of citizens, housing ownership, and length of stay in an area, are effective factors in people’s participation that can be promoted by adopting comprehensive awareness measures and programs and raising its level by mass media, especially radio.
