Introduction: The goal of development is accessing the different types of freedom. Any deprivation and constraint somehow disturbs freedom, so the field of production as the acting of development and progress will be lost. Actually, achieving the economic freedom and consequently, social progress can be so important and they can also affect GDP in every country.
Method: The data of social progress, economic freedom, and also the GDP per capita in 144 countries respectively derived from social progress index, Heritage Institute, and the World Bank over the years 2014 to 2018. In order to compare the effect of the indexes of social progress and economic freedom on GDP per capita, panel data method was used by Eviews 10 software.
Findings: The results of panel data evaluation in the studied years show that social progress index has an increasing and significant effect on GDP per capita in countries with low income, countries with lower than average income, countries with higher than average income, and countries with high income.
Discussion: Also, the effect of economic freedom index on GDP per capita is increasing and it is significant in low income countries; insignificant in lower than average income countries; insignificant in higher than average income countries; and increasing and significant in high income countries. Social and economic progresses of countries are two parallel lines that should move together in the same path. In this regard, it can be stated that effectiveness of these indicators moves the society towards the economic and social welfare, and this society will be an ideal society.
