Introduction: The research was conducted with the aim of the effectiveness of teaching happy children strategy on parenting skills, social interest, independence and sense of belonging of 10-12 year old children.
Method: The research method was semi-experimental with experimental and control groups and pre-test-post-test and a follow-up period of 45 days. The statistical population included all parents of 10-12-year-old children in Isfahan city who referred to counseling centers active in the field of children and adolescents. 40 parents were selected by available sampling method and randomly divided into two groups (20 people), test and control. The research tools included the Alabama Freak Parenting Questionnaire (1991), Alizadeh et al.'s Children's Social Interest Questionnaire (2013), Stenberg and Silverberg's Emotional Independence Questionnaire (1986), Parker et al.'s Sense of Belonging Questionnaire (1979). During 10 60-minute sessions, the experimental group received the happy children strategy training by Schofield & weaver (2016) and the control group did not receive any intervention. Analysis of variance with repeated measures was used to analyze the data.
finndings: The results showed that teaching happy children's strategy is effective on parenting skills, social interest, independence and sense of belonging of 12-10-year-old children (p < 0.001).
Discussion:As a result of teaching the strategy of happy children, a suitable intervention can be used to strengthen independence, sense of belonging, social interest and improve parenting skills.
